Product Details

Named after the original Buta motif, this piece pays tribute to one of the most recognizable designs in South Asian textile history. Long before it became known around the world as the “Paisley” pattern, the motif originated in Kashmir and Persia, where it was known as Buta, a symbol woven into shawls, textiles, and craftsmanship for centuries.
As the design gained popularity in Europe, it became associated with the Scottish town of Paisley, where the pattern was reproduced on a large scale. Over time, the original name and its cultural origins were often forgotten.
With Buta, we wanted to carry this motif forward by the name it was always meant to be known by.
Inspired by the intricate patterns traditionally found on pashmina shawls, this piece reimagines the timeless Buta motif for modern wear while honouring the heritage and artistry behind it.
Thoughtfully designed in Pakistan as part of our slow fashion approach, Buta is crafted in limited quantities with a focus on focus on preserving the stories and origins behind our textiles, ensuring that the history of these motifs is remembered by the names and cultures they came from.
